Kalzip launches education brochure
“Creating the learning environments of the future”, a new education brochure from Kalzip, celebrates the instalment of almost two million square metres of Kalzip on more than 1,000 school projects in the UK and Ireland alone.
This landmark endorsement, in Kalzip’s 40th anniversary year, has itself been marked in “Picturing School Design” from CABE in which two of the seven case studies featured as exemplars are schools with Kalzip roofs.
Kalzip’s new education brochure presents stunningly colourful photographic evidence of the material’s use across a wide range of standard, BSF, PFI and PPP education projects, ranging from primary schools through sixth form colleges and academies to universities.
Explanations as to why Kalzip was specified and how successful its use was on the projects are given by architects, main contractors, Kalzip installers and clients including Walker Simpson and Watson Batty architects, Amec Capital Projects, Laing O’Rourke, Birse Build, Carillion, City Building (Glasgow) LLP and Manchester City and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Councils.
Products featured for their design flexibility, technical performance, ease and speed of installation, low-maintenance, longevity and sustainability include the standard aluminium standing seam in a range of colours as well as zinc and stainless steel finishes with solar or photovoltaic and green roof capabilities.
A checklist is provided at the end of the brochure to help specifiers cover off design and structural issues such as air tightness, acoustics, fabrications, finishes, durability and certification.
