Ledbury, Herefordshire, 1 September 2014 – The new Guardian LST from Jaga Heating Products has been specifically designed to be the UK’s fastest and easiest low surface temperature (LST) radiator to install.
On site, it would take a single professional installer just 15 minutes to install any Jaga Guardian LST, without any special training, whereas a traditional steel panel radiator based LST radiator will take longer and need a team of two for anything over 1m long. So the Guardian LST will help to cut installation costs in half.
The Jaga Guardian LST is supported by Jaga’s unrivalled logistics and customer service package. Heating elements and brackets can be delivered direct to site in advance of the one-piece casings, which can be stored in Jaga’s warehouse for delivery right at the end of the project. This reduces the potential for site damage, reduces the need for on-site storage, and improves cash-flow for contractors!
Yet the new Guardian LST is remarkable for more than the speed of its installation alone. It also provides the perfect combination of high output heat convection and safe surface temperature for a range of applications. Jaga recommends the Guardian LST for use in locations including care and nursing homes, sheltered housing, a wide range of educational buildings from nurseries and pre-schools through to secondary schools and university student accommodation, healthcare centres and public buildings.
Available in wall mounted (WT) and flush to the floor (FT) options to cover every application, the Guardian LST achieves its super-fast installation time through being designed as a lightweight yet robust, single piece casing that is easy to lift and handle by a tradesman working alone. This visually stylish and strong casing has rounded corners and chamfered profiles to avoid sharp edges and minimise the risk of injury to building occupants from accidental impact.
Crucially, the casing stays safe at a cool to touch temperature of less than 43°C, even at high flow temperatures, in keeping with the Building Regulations Approved Document M, NHS Estates Health Guidance Notes and all other current legislation.
Another indicator of the “made with the installer in mind” approach to the design of the Guardian LST is that the sides of the casings have laser “knock-outs” to allow for various TRVs configurations. On the Guardian LST FT flush to the floor model, additional knock outs accommodate skirting or trunking to help to accommodate low level wall mounted pipework. For still further enhanced safety and security, casing locks are also included as standard for both models.
As with all Jaga LST radiators, the new Guardian LST features Jaga Low-H2O heat exchangers which are tested to 20 bar and guaranteed to perform at a working pressure of 10 bar. This unique guarantee extends to 30 years from purchase! Low H2O heating elements are ultra-efficient providing maximum output from minimum dimensions. Due to their low mass, low water content they possess very low thermal inertia, so they heat up and cool down rapidly and have been proven by BRE to offer a 10% saving in energy consumption against comparable steel panel radiators.
Given that the Guardian LST may often be used in situations where there are a high percentage of comparatively infirm residents or vulnerable occupants present, the fact that Low-H2O heat exchangers have a greater and more even heat distribution with a lower exit air temperature - thereby creating a healthier environment than other heating systems - is also a strong benefit for the new Jaga product.
Both Guardian LST floor and wall models are also available with twin LowH2O heat exchangers which allow the boiler temperature to be set approximately 15° lower yet still achieve the same output. For the lowest temperature heating systems, such as those powered by heat pumps, the vast majority of the different sizes of Guardian LST radiators available can be specified with Jaga’s dynamic boost effect (DBE) technology. A further option is the incorporation of Jaga Oxygen technology which offers intelligent, indoor air quality control which is particularly useful for rooms with high occupancy such as classrooms and care homes. All Guardian LST radiators are available as Revit-compatible BIM components, downloadable from www.jaga.co.uk/bim
The Guardian LST is available in 268 different size and output applications, all available ex-stock with direct-to-site delivery from Jaga’s Herefordshire warehouse. For the wall (WT) model heights range from 400mm to 600mm, lengths from 440mm to 1840mm with outputs as high as 5671 watts/hour at EN442 (19350 BTU/hour). For the flush to the floor Guardian LST FT model, height options vary from 40mm to 80mm, lengths from 440mm to 1840mm and outputs from 330 watts/hour (1126BTU/hour) up to 5750 watts/hours (19620 BTU/hour) which is nearly twice the most powerful standard heat output of any steel-panel based LST radiator currently available from other manufacturers.
Phil Marris, Managing Director of Jaga Heating Products (UK) said: “Buildings occupied or used by young, infirm or vulnerable people must safe have heating. Despite already offering the UK’s most comprehensive range of LST heating solutions, we weren’t convinced that all that could potentially be done in the provision of safe, energy efficient heating was being done. So we talked to contractors and engineers and found out what they would like to see. We found that the difficulty of handling and installing some LST products was a real issue for many while others responded that they could not easily source an LST radiator in an acceptable size that would provide the kind of high heat output required by occupants in buildings where LST radiators are found. This feedback led us to the innovation of the Guardian LST which has been developed precisely to meet the stated needs by providing a powerful, energy efficient safe heating solution that is easy to handle and fast to install.”
The Guardian is backed by Jaga’s consultative and bespoke approach to customer service which can include design advice, installation support right through to split deliveries of orders if required. As part of this service, each Guardian LST radiator is supplied in robust, practical packaging that will keep the product in pristine condition until installation. Once installed, Jaga guarantee the Guardian LST with a 30 year guarantee on the Low-H2O heat emitter, and a 10 year guarantee on the Guardian’s casing.
