Itho UK Ltd
’s innovative MVHR
solution the Itho
Advance has been selected for installation in a pilot project for 2 new social housing dwellings in Newcastle. The two homes are being built to code levels 5 & 6 on a suitable piece of land situated in a development by Keepmoat Homes.
The 2 homes are part of 98 house development less than four miles away from Newcastle city centre called Orchard Way, Blakelaw. Built in one phase, when complete the site will comprise a range of two, three and four bedroom homes.
All will be built to Code 3 and Code 4 of the government’s standard for sustainability, complete with energy saving appliances and environmental design features. However, plot 42 and 43 of the site will be built to Codes 5 and 6. These two plots will have the Advance installed due to the high levels of efficiency that led to the creation of the 0.4 W/l/s or less category within SAP Appendix Q for its specific fan power (SFP) of just 0.37 W/1/s.
The SFP results in SAP Appendix Q demonstrate that this powerful little unit will give improved savings on CO2 emissions. The unit is compact enough to take up the space of a kitchen cupboard and with an equally compact price; the Advance is the MVHR
unit of the future. With an impressive three year guarantee, this unit is streets ahead in the continuous ventilation market.
Ideal for 1/2/3 bedroom apartments and houses, the SAP Appendix Q Eligible Advance is EST Best Practice Compliant for up to a Kitchen plus 4 wet rooms, making it the ideal choice for the pilot project by Keepmoat. The Advance is designed for installation on walls and ceilings with a unique fixing bracket that can be supplied prior to the unit to enable first fixing of all duct connections and improved on site security.
The 98 homes will also have installed roof mounted solar heating panels (Code 3) and roof mounted photovoltaic panel (Code 4), the latest condensing boilers, energy saving lighting, double glazing and insulated walls to lower heating bills and cycle storage – all of which will save the house owners money on energy bills as well as being kind to the environment.

’s solar pre-heat systems The CombiSolar 90 or 150 gives hot water on demand and provide huge reductions on the cost of generating hot water. Comprising either a 90 litre or 150 solar cylinder, a drain-back unit and one or more solar collectors, the units, uniquely, are coupled with a condensing combination boiler.
