Overview
The International School of Aberdeen, founded in 1972, specialises in offering an internationally recognised pre-school through secondary school education to students of all nationalities.

To maintain the high standard of facilities provided, a new sports hall housing a double gymnasium, fitness centre and multipurpose spaces was recently opened as part of a £3.5m new build and refurbishment contract.

The design, by leading Scottish Architects Halliday Fraser Munro, called for an environmentally sound exterior cladding system that was as natural looking as possible, allowing the building to blend naturally into the heavily wooded site surroundings.

Due to its superior weathering properties and backed by a 30 year guarantee The A. Proctor Group’s Royale timber cladding system was installed by the contractor. The Osmose Royale Process was originally developed as a drying medium for timber. A blend of mineral and vegetable oils were used under heat and vacuum to remove moisture from wet timber. It was discovered that timber dried by this process benefited from some new unique properties which enhanced its performance.

The Osmose timber treatment gives softwoods the typical properties of hardwood enabling them to be used in typical hardwood applications, by increasing water resistance and stability. Project Team Halliday Fraser Munro Architects Morrison Construction International School of Aberdeen
