Instarmac Group plc, home to the Ultracrete, Ultrascape, Ultra Tile and Ultra Floor brands, has joined the Road Surface Treatment Association as part of its ongoing commitment to innovation and best practice.
The RSTA, is the trade association for the surface dressing, slurry micro-surfacing, high friction and allied treatments industries. It aims to ‘raise awareness of the range and benefits of road surface treatments and promote work force competence, safe working and sustainable practices. It champions industry professionalism, innovation and best practice.’
Its members include material and equipment suppliers, contracting companies, local authorities and labour organisations all of whom are encouraged to register with National Highways Sector Scheme 13 or the BBA/HAPAS Product Certification Scheme to accredit their services and systems.
The Road Surface Treatment Association endorses best practice; Instarmac carries it out in every aspect of its business thus making it a befitting partnership.
The RSTA aims to advance the road surfacing industry through endorsement of innovative surface treatments that have strong sustainability credentials. These solutions improve the service life of roads by filling potholes, restoring the skid resistance of roads and sealing pavements. They also offer a greener alternative and are labour effective because they reduce the need for repeat site visits and reapplication due to their superior quality. This lessens the financial burden as the need for traffic management is eased, allowing the end user to get the best value out of constrained budgets.
Instarmac, through its Ultracrete brand, invests in developing products and systems that solve today’s highway maintenance problems, and aligns itself with the RSTA’s aims by ensuring these solutions are proven, trusted and durable.
This commitment has allowed the company to develop innovative products such as Ultracrete’s HAPAS Approved Envirobed HA104®. This cementitious manhole bedding mortar has truly stood the test of time. After 7 years of research and development, Ultracrete released this unique cleaner and safer alternative to resin based material. It allows for manhole reinstatement to happen in even wet weather, and the product’s strength meets and even exceed that of its counterparts, as well as the HA104/09 requirements. Envirobed HA104® has been in the ground in many roads across the UK with zero failures. Such success allows Ultracrete to quote that its materials are truly proven and durable. Its renown Instant Road Repair, cold lay asphalt concrete was developed over 30 years ago for repair of potholes and damaged asphalt. It is specially formulated to include fully graded, high PSV interlocking aggregate, specially prepared bitumen and the latest in industry technology to ensure long term stability and durability.
Instarmac offers a range of training and site support to encourage safer working, proficiency and a ‘right first time’ solution. Free of charge Material Awareness days, RIBA Approved CPDs and BBA/HAPAS Approved Manhole Reinstatement courses are available in full or half day formats to help facilitate best practice.
