The shortlist for the Insulated Render and Cladding Association (INCA
) 2011 Awards recognising innovation and excellence in external wall insulation (EWI
) was announced at the INCA
AGM on Tuesday 5 July.
The standard of entries this year was exceptionally high and the finalists represent the leading EWI
new build and refurbishment projects in the non-residential and domestic sectors. EWI
is crucial to meeting the Government’s target of an 80% reduction in UK carbon emissions by 2050, and the INCA
2011 Awards will help to showcase the benefits of EWI in advance of the Green Deal which will be implemented in 2012. The judging panel, comprised of industry experts, praised the successful projects for their unique combination of thermal efficiency and design and aesthetics, which have improved living standards and regenerated local communities.
The winners will be revealed at the 2011 INCA
Conference & Exhibition on Wednesday 12 October at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Supported by E.ON UK, Housing Association magazine and QA National Warranties, the one-day event will showcase EWI
to over 200 delegates from Local Authorities, Housing Associations, architects, consultants and contractors. Leading Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly will host a first rate line up of speakers involved in the UK’s green strategy and present the INCA
2011 Awards, and there will be an exhibition of the latest EWI technology.
Awards judge Dr Paul Davidson, Director of Sustainability at BRE, praised the high standard of the shortlist:
“The finalists in the INCA
2011 Awards show the dramatic improvement that EWI
can make to a building’s thermal performance. EWI can achieve very low U-values and it is clear that INCA
members have a key role to play in overhauling the energy efficiency of the UK building stock. The flexibility of EWI lends itself to the diverse range of properties that need upgrading to meet Government targets and my congratulations go to all of those that made the short-list.”
