Howarth Timber names Feliicia Eliza as next big thing in Local Music Live

Howarth Timber and Building Supplies has concluded its UK-wide search to find the next big thing in live music, naming Feliicia Eliza as its favourite act.

The company was the major sponsor of Local Music Live, an initiative aimed at putting new talent on the radio, where singer/songwriters and bands could submit their songs to for a chance to be played by local radio DJs from across the UK.

The search for local talent received over 100 entries in just one month, with a judging panel from Local Music Live and Howarth Timber Feliicia as their favourite act.

Feliicia’s entry was first spotted by staff at Howarth Timber’s Manchester branch, who flagged up the talented singer and guitarist as a potential front-runner.  She will now be invited to Redwall Studios in Greater Manchester to record her music, and create a music video for one of her tracks with Leeds-based creative agency, Harris.

Howarth Timber’s judging panel was so impressed by the quality of the acts that the company has decided to award five runners-up prizes worth £200 each in recognition of their efforts.

John Dash of Local Music Live said: “Radio stations, especially those with a strong ‘local’ ethos, have always had a close relationship with their local music scenes, and it’s been fantastic to see so many local stations once again championing new talent.”

Local Music Live’s Dave Stankler also commented: “This initiative has provided a platform for some very talented artists and bands, and while Feliicia has been named as Howarth Timber and Local Music Live’s favourite act this year, I’m sure that the boost all the artists involved have received will set many of the them on the path to success.”

Local Music Live brought together commercial and community stations – including Rock FM in Lancashire, the Lincs FM group and the newly-launched Fix Radio in London – to encourage and support local singers and bands.

Howarth Timber’s marketing and product development manager, Neale Brewster, said: “We’re always keen to support our local communities, and many of our stores have sponsored local gigs in the past so when we were given the chance to take this support nationwide we were keen to get involved.

“The quality of the entries received made choosing our favourite act a tricky process, but Feliicia caught our attention from the very beginning, and on behalf of Howarth Timber I’d like to congratulate Feliicia and wish her all the best for what I’m sure will be a stellar music career!”
