HEPWORTH EXPANDS TEST CENTRE OPERATION TO KEEP PACE WITH INTERNATIONAL DEMAND FOR FLEXIBLE PLUMBING SYSTEMS

Hepworth Plumbing Products has expanded its test centre operations to keep pace with the fast rising demand for additional product certifications, as the Hep2O® flexible, push-fit plumbing range is launched in more countries around the world.

Explains Steve Currid of Hepworth: “Each new country that we enter has its own certification requirements and calls for product to be tested to those specific criteria. With the latest investment we can run over 300 tests on different samples at the same time, with continuous computer control of test parameters to provide very high levels of accuracy. As well as pressure tests, we also run high and low temperature tests.”

Hep2O® is currently available in some 15 countries around the world and the international market is growing rapidly. Whilst some of these countries operate standards that are derived from those used in the UK, others differ substantially and require many hours of testing before the appropriate certifications can be secured.

As well as testing to numerous national standards, the Hepworth test facility undertakes on going testing of its products to build data on performance in more practical conditions but involving extremes of pressure, temperature and flow rate as part of the company’s technical support service.

The Hepworth installation, centred on Padiham, Lancashire also develops test methods with third parties and is UKAS (UK Accreditation Services) certified for quality and objectivity.
