Hanson Formpave Paves the Way at Luxury Cornish Lodges
Hanson Formpave, a leading manufacturer of standard and specialist concrete block pavers, has recently supplied its leading Aquaflow™ permeable paving to the new GwelanMor Luxury Holiday Park, in Portreath, Cornwall. An area in excess of 2000 square meters of paving has so far been installed throughout the site, providing car parking bays and path areas in between the luxury lodges and throughout the parkland.
“In light of current climate change issues, we were keen to use permeable paving to ensure rainfall and rainwater run-off could be controlled in an environmentally efficient way. Hanson Formpave’s Aquaflow was specified and we are delighted with the result. Aquaflow provides an aesthetically pleasing paving solution for pathways and parking bays, and is an affordable solution that delivers the environmental benefits we were looking for,” said David Everest, Project Manager for GwelanMor Holiday Park.
The project has benefited from a sustainable paving solution with high importance placed on the paving being complimentary with the surrounding area. Aquaflow’s distinctive style and highly developed technique enabled this criteria to be met. The installation comprised the Aquaflow 80mm variant in charcoal edged by a red brindle standard kerb for the main areas and red for demarcation, an infiltration system was also installed.
GwelanMor Luxury Holiday Park, Cornwall is set in beautiful countryside with spectacular views, and has been developed to include brand new Scandinavian-style lodges for holiday residence, as well as first class clubhouse facilities. Further development is also planned for site expansion in the fast growing holiday-let market.
Hanson Formpave manufactures the market leading Aquaflow Permeable Paving and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), providing an affordable solution to the challenges of storm water disposal and treatment, water conservation, recycling and reuse. The Formpave system allows rain to infiltrate through a permeable concrete block paved surface into a unique stone sub-base where it is cleaned, by filtration and microbial action, before being released in a controlled manner into sewers or water courses, or infiltrated directly into the sub-grade. The system can also be used to harvest and reuse all water that falls on hard surfaces such as roofs and car parks, representing additional environmental benefits and cost savings.
A world authority in the field of sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS), Hanson Formpave first introduced permeable paving to the UK market 12 years ago and through an extensive R&D programme they continue to pioneer and lead the market in this field, utilising this experience and knowledge to design sites with the highest standards in mind for both customer and environment.
