On 9th and 10th May, at the Greenbuild EXPO in Manchester, Hansgrohe, the bathroom specialist, showcased an inspiring selection of mixers, showers and thermostatic controls, demonstrating how no compromise is required on design, quality or performance in order to save water and energy in the bathroom. As part of the conference and training programme at the event, Hansgrohe also delivered its RIBA certified CPD seminar ‘Part G Made Easy’.
A highlight on Stand E50 was presentation of the new Hansgrohe EcoSmart Check Package. Neatly boxed, this clever kit includes all the equipment required to calculate water and energy savings if hotels switch from their existing fittings to EcoSmart basin mixers and showers. The Hansgrohe team were on hand to demonstrate the kit and make appointments to visit interested hotel projects.
Treating water as a precious resource has been central to the Hansgrohe philosophy for over thirty years and through an ongoing focus on product development, many best-selling models from the Raindance and Croma shower families are now offered in both standard and EcoSmart versions. The EcoSmart versions have exactly the same design, but incorporate industry leading water-saving technology to reduce consumption by around half from 18 litres per minute to 9. This is achieved through a combination of devised flow regulation and air-injection which works irrespective of the water pressure – visitors were able test performance for themselves using the working displays on the stand.
EcoSmart models included the new Raindance Select 150 hand shower featuring an easy-to-hold handle and “Select” – a simple change function to click between the 3 spray modes, the entry-level Croma 100 Vario hand shower with 4 spray settings and the award-winning Crometta 85 Green hand shower which delivers just 6 litres per minute. Showerpipes and panels deliver the ultimate showering enjoyment with their combined overhead and hand shower functionality. Examples on the stand included the new Raindance Select Showerpipe 360 and new Raindance Select 240 Showerpipe, both with energy-saving thermostatic controls.
Hansgrohe basin mixers are all fitted as standard with aerators which limit water flow to 5 litres per minute compared with the average 13 l/pm. Examples included the tall Metris 200, with 20cm of clearance under the tap (the area Hansgrohe called the ComfortZone), this mixer is perfect for filling large vases, buckets or washing laundry by hand. The keenly-priced Talis E² basin mixer sports a classic single lever design and the Focus S 3-hole mixer features separate hot and cold ergonomically comfortable handles.
From a world class line-up of designers including Philippe Starck, Antonio Citterio and Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, the Axor brand also embraces EcoSmart technology. A selection of mixer taps from various Axor collections were on display.
