There’s a fresh dimension to high quality commercial stainless steel kitchen furniture with the advent of GEC Anderson’s modular DecimetricTM System. A flexible and comprehensive selection of sinks, surfaces, support frames, cabinets and shelving forms the basis of the DecimetricTM System. All sizes (500-3,000mm) are derived from 100mm sizing increments (100mm = 1 decimetre). This modularity makes for economy, ease of specification and rapid availability. The hard-wearing brushed satin stainless steel finish ensures DecimetricTM products retain their looks while providing low maintenance and hygienic work surfaces to suit even the most demanding of professional environments.

GEC Anderson Managing Director Martin Tye says that the DecimetricTM System has been created to service the requirements of professional kitchens, but its components are equally suitable for other applications, such as healthcare, education and even domestic environments. Work surfaces (600 and 700mm wide) are available with or without sinks and drainers. Leg support-frames can be added with shelves, as required. A series of stainless steel cabinets provides the ability to configure units exactly as required by the user. Hinged, sliding and no-door cabinet options can be combined with multi-drawer (stack) units or with ‘top-line’ drawers. “Because modules range from 500mm to 3,000mm, designers can make the most economical use of available space through careful selection of our standard components,” says Martin Tye.

The DecimetricTM System offers great flexibility and options including a choice of bowl size, number and configuration (single and multiple sinkbowls). Edges (40mm) can be lipped (water-safe) or square (plain edge) with optional 100mm upstands. Folded edge corner-details provide accuracy and economy through accelerated manufacturing processes.

Designed with end-user chefs in mind, the DecimetricTM System also assists commercial kitchen designers. “One of our aims has been to simplify commercial kitchen design and specification. The system makes a designer’s life much easier,” says Martin Tye. At the same time, all components are highly durable yet economic whilst being practical and easy to clean, so that strict hygiene standards can always be maintained.

Founded in England in 1962, GEC Anderson has pioneered the development of made-to-measure stainless steel products. Today, the company’s range includes sinks, worktops, cabinets, shelving and sanitaryware for use in domestic, commercial and specialist environments, such as hospitals and laboratories. All products are manufactured to ISO 9001 and backed by a comprehensive support service from planning and product specification to installation and maintenance.
