G is for Guidance

Trade Associations provide a vital role in our industry today, not only do they form a natural ‘home’ for companies involved in certain products and services, but a voice in their field of expertise. This generic voice of the membership can offer unbiased advice by being a first point of contact.

The Council for Aluminium in Building based in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire was formed almost 20 years ago from three aluminium trade bodies to support aluminium fenestration in the construction industry. Today the Association, with a team of 5, has a wide range of members across the building envelope supply chain.

CAB provides general guidance and clarification on standards, regulations and best practise for the sector. Guidance can take many forms including technical notes (members only), telephone advice (members and non-members), company visits and presentations. CAB regularly answers a wide range of queries from members, fabricators, specifiers and architects. In recent months the most common enquiries have been related to Building Regulations and changing Standards.

Members pride themselves on being associated with CAB and a searchable listing of their products and services is available at www.c-a-b.org.uk.
