FAKRO has been recognised in the 19th annual Good Design Awards organized by Poland’s Institute of Industrial Design. The judging panel praised the FGH-V Galeria balcony window, drawing attention to the ‘innovative concept of a folding balcony in a pitched roof. It highlighted how the product extended the scope for a balcony to be used and praised the Fakro research team for bravely breaking the stereotype and adopting a modern yet highly practical approach.’
The presentation gala was held on October 11th at the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw, with Fakro’s award being received by Research and Development Department Director Henryk Musiał. He added, “We are delighted with this award because our product was evaluated by a group of eminent experts. The judging panel consisted of specialists from the Association of Industrial Designers and the Research and Development Department of the Institute of Industrial Design as well as experts in design and design management from overseas”.
Particular attention was paid to the overall quality of design, functional and aesthetic values use of new technologies and ergonomics. The Good Design Awards represent the only independent means of design evaluation in the country, with manufacturers, distributors, service providers and design studios all invited to enter. Awards cover four categories: the home, the working environment, public space and services. This year 91 products were shortlisted for final judging.
