For a stunning new residential scheme in central London, architects required a reliable, durable and practical method of fixing the vast amounts of exterior cladding to the building. Leaders in ventilated cladding support systems, Eurofox Engineering, demonstrated that their system had the right credentials.

Final design by architects Tate Hindle for Oakmayne Properties, O-Central is a dramatic development of 202 units, comprising 144 private units, 44 affordable units and 14 commercial units. Located near the Elephant and Castle and flanked by a main road and a railway line, the eight storey building required an innovative approach to the exterior cladding to realise the architectural design of the scheme.

The building was completed on a fast track 69 week programme. Based around a reinforced concrete structure, Tate Hindle designed the building to feature protruding windows and balconies to provide an interesting façade.

To create a contrast, Tate Hindle specified white render and Trespa Meteon rainscreen cladding panels. Extremely weather resistant, they are not affected by sun, rain (including acid rain) or moisture ensuring their performance would not be degraded with time. To provide a secure fix for the panels, Eurofox Engineering provided its MTK (Structural Adhesive) rainscreen cladding support system.

Highly versatile, the system is produced from hard wearing aluminium and can be used to fix a variety of cladding materials. For O-Central, with aesthetics of paramount importance, the panels were held onto the MTK support system using SikaTack Panel Adhesive from Sika. A high performance adhesive system, it allows cladding panels to be secretly fixed, eliminating unsightly mechanical fixing systems which often protrude through the cladding panels.

Eurofox Engineering produces a comprehensive range of cladding support systems to suit most applications including vertical fix, horizontal fix and secret fix. As part of a complete technical support package, Eurofox Engineering provides specifiers with a range of tools and services. This includes the provision of drawings showing optimum set out of bracket components, rails and grids, the ability to calculate structural requirements of the back framing system and accurate details of cladding materials requirements.

Now regarded as the UK leader in ventilated façade support systems, Eurofox Engineering offers a structured and safe engineering approach to ventilated façade design and installation. Its systems offer ease of use for the installer and technical excellence for the specifier. In addition, they are highly flexible allowing for fast and effective initial line and level adjustment prior to final fixing. This ensures a perfectly level façade, accurately controlled cladding zones and adequate allowance for dead and dynamic loading.
