An Irish distribution company specialising in kitchen accessories has had its new headquarters building fitted out using high performance ceiling systems, including bespoke Light Coffers, supplied by Ecophon Limited.

Dublin based James Smyth Architects has been responsible for the design of the KAL Group’s new premises in the City West business district. The practice’s imaginative designs leading to the installation of Focus E, together with the stylish pair of Light Coffers.

The project architect for James Smyth Architects, Mr Declan Kelly, comments: “Taking the main entrance, which is an imposing double height space, we felt the Light Coffer system was an innovative and novel solution of making a strong visual statement there. Utilising the prefabricated Light Coffer units also saved a lot of work in forming such a feature. It looks very attractive now.”

“This was the first time we have specified Ecophon products but one of our main concerns in the design of this building for the KAL Group was to control the reverberation in the different areas, and the Ecophon Focus tiles have very good acoustic properties. They offered all the performance characteristics that I was looking for.”

Elsewhere Focus E has been installed to create elegant ceiling lines throughout the circulation spaces, general office areas and meeting rooms.

While Duggan Brothers Limited was the main contractor, all of the ceilings – along with areas of plasterboard ceilings and partitions -were installed by Kehoe Acoustics, a regular user of the Ecophon range.
