Eaton-Williams wins award for most energy efficient cooling solution

Eaton-Williams has returned from China having won an award for ServerCool’s innovative energy efficient approach to data centre cooling.

The award was presented to ServerCool® as the best provider of energy efficient cooling at the China Green Data Centre Development and Best Practice Forum in Beijing where Eaton-Williams (www.eaton-williams.com) was exhibiting and presented case studies on an energy efficient cooling solutions for China Mobile.

Eaton-Williams competed against a number of blue chip and Fortune 100 companies at the event, which was attended by government ministers and heads of key players in the data centre industry including China Mobile and China Telecom.

Gold sponsors of the firm included Eaton-Williams, Emerson and CECP (a state- run data centre builder).

ServerCool displayed its rear door heat exchanger (RDHX) and Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU) which won the award for the best product to deliver an energy efficient solution. ServerCool’s product range was also recognised for its energy savings and CO2 reductions.

Energy-saving and Environmental protection are key issues in China and the country is quickly embracing government initiatives that meet their social responsibilities and address low carbon requirements. The China Green Data centre Development and Best Practice Forum is another affirmation that as a global player China is committed to playing a leading part using the latest technology in the battle to reduce emissions

ServerCool’s products are aimed typically at meeting the demands data centres and managing the heat densities of blade servers. ServerCool removes heat directly from the server rack at source and then discharges the heat to chilled water via a cooling distribution unit (CDU). This offers a very efficient solution and uses more than 40% less of the energy used by conventional CRAC units.

This is the second time ServerCool has picked up an award for its energy efficiency. The company previously won the Silicon Valley Leadership’s Award in conjunction with IBM after being evaluated and judged to be the most energy efficient cooling solution for medium to high heat density server racks.

Eaton-Williams ServerCool has also announced that it is moving into the northern European market and has signed UniqDatacenter as its distributor for Scandinavia.
