Double Victory for Kingspan Renewables at Microgeneration Awards

Kingspan Renewables has scooped two major wins at this year’s Microgeneration UK Awards, with Specification Sales Manager Tony Staniforth picking up ‘Microgeneration Champion’ and Kingspan’s solar thermal install at nursing home Roby Lodge, awarded ‘Best Residential Project.’ The company celebrated its double win at the awards dinner held in London by the Micropower Council in partnership with the British Photovoltaic Association (BPVA) and Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC).

The awards, which honour the best and brightest in the microgeneration industry, were presented by Micropower Council President, Baroness Maddock and entries were judged by a distinguished panel of expert judges, including Mary Creagh MP (Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs); TV presenter and eco expert Penney Poyzer; Steven Fawkes of the Matrix Group; Amisha Patel of the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy and Lucy Siegle, ethical living columnist for The Observer.

Microgeneration Champion of the evening, Kingspan Renewables’ Tony Staniforth, was awarded for the lasting contribution he has made to the sector as a whole, in particular his work and dedication towards improving the representation of microgeneration technology performance in SAP. Tony commented: “I’m honoured to have been recognised by the industry for what I believe is a necessary job in raising the profile of Renewables in SAP and addressing the barriers it has faced to date. This is a matter close to our hearts at Kingspan, and I will continue my endeavours to ensure this is addressed at the highest levels.”

Kingspan’s large-scale installation of its world-leading Thermomax solar thermal vacuum tube collectors at nursing home development, Roby Lodge, scooped ‘Best Residential Project’ on the night. The install, spanning 80 square metres, was recognised for providing up to 70 percent of the centre’s hot water needs all-year-round while significantly reducing carbon emissions and energy costs for tenants.

Commenting on Kingspan Renewables’ double success, Managing Director Cameron Holroyd said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised by industry experts as microgeneration leaders in not just one, but two of the five categories on the night.  These awards mark Kingspan’s true commitment to excellence and growth in the sector, whether it is through our dedicated personnel, innovations in technology, projects or full renewable package solutions.”
