Dimplex heat pump training courses have been making an extra ‘splash’ with installers by taking the sessions out of the classroom and into the local community – the first of which has taken place on Orkney.

The initiative to take the Logic Certification-approved training course to a group of installers on the islands was planned by the Dimplex team with Jonathan Heal, assistant manager at Orkney’s Kirkwall branch of builders’ merchants Jewson.

“We’re actively promoting renewable technologies and our local installers were particularly keen to attend the Dimplex training courses but travelling time and costs are a major issue for islanders. So we came up with the simple solution to get Dimplex to cross the water, bringing the training to us and it worked brilliantly,” he explained.

Laurence Allison, Dimplex business development manager and renewables training manager Dale Banks arranged the training course at a local college for the two day course, which was attended by 12 installers from across the islands.

The popular Dimplex heat pump and solar thermal courses are run regularly at locations throughout the UK and have received industry acclaim for delivering technological expertise with practical ‘know how’.

“We’re able to be very flexible with our training courses,” comments Laurence Allison, “and by us delivering a special course in Orkney, it meant that those installers didn’t have the hassle and costs of travelling to the mainland. It worked so well, that we’re now expanding the scheme to deliver really local training for groups of installers wanting to get to grips with the latest renewable technologies.”
