Balustrade expert Richard Burbidge has extended its commercial range with the introduction of a stainless steel system suitable for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor applications, from shopping centre staircases to external public balconies.

The new modular handrail and balustrade range incorporates curved or continuous steel handrails with steel newels and a choice of glass panels or steel balusters. An optional timber handrail is also available for added design flexibility. The system has been independently tested to resist loadings of 1.5kN/m and 3.0kN/m in line with BS 6399,1,1996, and has an adjustable handrail height to meet with Building Regulations. Thanks to the increased load resistance testing, the new system is suitable for use in busy commercial environments as well as multi-occupancy residential developments.

Suitable for use on concrete, timber and metal substructures, the stainless steel system is easy to fit and the components neatly fit together, eliminating unattractive weld joins. The system is available off the shelf or a full supply and fit service is also offered. Individual components are also available upon request.

David Richards, Commercial Market Manager for Richard Burbidge, comments: “The new stainless steel range provides a practical and affordable solution for architects and specifiers looking for a strength tested system that is also aesthetically appealing. The system is available off the shelf but offers many features associated with bespoke products, including high quality engineered component parts and high-grade stainless steel.

“This latest addition makes the commercial balustrade range even more comprehensive to better meet the needs of specifiers working on a full range of projects. Plus, as it’s modular, it can be adapted for almost any situation, whilst the carefully designed components ensure a uniformed finished look.”

Richard Burbidge offers a wide range of resources and added-value services for specifiers and architects, including RIBA approved CPD seminars on stair balustrade, CAD drawings, two online planning tools and downloadable specification guides. Plus, the company also offers a bespoke planning service, providing fully priced solutions for individual project plans.
