Balustrade expert Richard Burbidge has supplied its striking FUSION Commercial outdoor balustrade for a new clubhouse at Moorland Tennis Club in Lancashire, creating an impressive spectator and social facility.

Founded 65 years ago, Moorland Tennis Club in Poulton-le-Flyde has invested £500,000 in new facilities, including a new clubhouse, the resurfacing of three tennis courts and new floodlights, allowing members to play throughout the winter.

FUSION Commercial outdoor balustrade with glass panels has been installed on the first floor of the clubhouse around the new balcony area, to provide a stylish safety barrier. The system’s combination of hardwood handrails and metal newels and components complements the clubhouse’s modern architecture and interior design, whilst the attractive glass panels maximise the views and sense of space on the balcony.

Keith Clark, President of The Moorland Tennis Club Committee, comments: “After viewing numerous systems the committee decided to install FUSION balustrade, due to its modern appearance and quality of the materials. The idea was to establish a high quality feature for the Pavilion that would allow members to make full use of the facilities. The finished re-build looks great; our members and visitors are really impressed with how striking the new balustrade system looks.”

FUSION Commercial outdoor balustrade is strength tested to 1.5kN/m, in line with the requirements of British Standards, making it suitable for use on high level decks and balconies.

The system combines timber rails with metal newels and connectors, and a choice of infill options, including hardwood balusters and hardwood slatted panels, as well as glass panels.

David Richards, Commercial Market Manager for Richard Burbidge, comments: “FUSION Commercial is a popular choice for leisure and sports facilities, thanks to its contemporary style and versatility. The clubhouse at Moorland will be multi-functional for use by the tennis club and local community, acting as a venue for various social events, so the timeless finish of Fusion combined with its durability and safety features is ideal.”

FUSION Commercial outdoor balustrade is structurally sound, thanks to a range of bracket fixings and a specially designed newel post support bar, which add significant strength.

The glass panels are available in two sizes for greater flexibility and an accurate finish. Bespoke designs are available on request and each panel is manufactured from toughened Float glass, perfect for outdoor applications.
