Working In partnership with The Gentoo Group and the National Refurbishment Centre the 2010 British Homes Awards Retrofit Design Competition invites architects to submit their innovative retrofit design solutions for a redundant housing block in Shakespeare Street, Sunderland, working to the design brief to be found at and

The winning scheme will be announced at the RIBA Stirling Prize in October and implemented onsite by the Gentoo Group to create an exemplar of best practice.

The closing date for design competition entries is Monday 17 May
