Leading roof access products manufacturer Bilco will be making its specification advice service, Bilco Assist, available in person on stand N4035 at this year’s Ecobuild. Its team of experts will be providing support in determining the most appropriate access product for architects, specifiers, M&E contractors and installers to purchase in order to provide the safest possible long term access to roof areas. The company launched its Bilco Assist scheme in 2014 by providing help online, by telephone and also through site visits, to address the lack of readily available expert advice in the absence of a precise legal framework to follow.
“Identifying the best roof access product still requires a certain amount of interpretation and you need to weigh up the various options to get the best value for money, safety and fitness for purpose. Unusually, most of the expertise in this field lies with the manufacturer, so we want to make ours more accessible in order to help the industry increase its knowledge overall,” says James Fisher, Managing Director, Bilco UK.
“Green roofs and solar panels are valuable assets in greener buildings that will need some ongoing maintenance. It is essential that buildings are equipped with robust, appropriate and cost effective roof access products that allow engineers and facilities managers to inspect and maintain these on a regular basis, in safety and without causing damage. We can advise and guide specifiers in making the right choices through Bilco Assist; from recommending an ideal roof hatch or smoke vent to suggesting an added safety device such as our retractable LadderUp Safety Post, which makes entry and egress through a roof hatch far safer for the individual.”
Experts from Bilco’s team will be available to explain how to plan the most cost effective approach by selecting easy to use, safe, robust products from Bilco’s tried and tested range.
