Wood Flooring Innovations from The Solid Wood Flooring Company

Here at The Solid Wood Flooring Company we’re all about sustainable wood flooring.  We are FSC® certified and are members of the Timber Trade Federation.  We pride ourselves on offering flooring solutions and on building lasting relationships with our clients.  Our floors have been fitted in a number of amazing spaces designed by truly talented architects and designers, here’s a quick look at some of our more recent projects:

Thomas House

It was our great pleasure to work with SODA on the Thomas House Project, which has been Nominated for 2019 CFJ/CFA Award. The client specified an engineered Oak floor that was responsibly sourced and had full FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) chain of custody.  The floor also had to be extremely resilient due to the high amount of traffic it would face. After careful consideration and research, we worked with SODA to develop the perfect solution: a smooth Oak floor with a Snow UV Oil finish called TW-E118.  The UV oil finish increased the resilience of the finish which only enabled us to meet the requirement of a hardwearing finish but also made ongoing maintenance easy.

Jorvic Viking Museum

We were asked by RMA Themed Attractions to supply and install a hardwood floor in the newly refurbished Viking Museum in the Centre of York. The theme was to have a “River” that flows through the exhibits taking visitors to each different section of the Viking’s history in the UK.  To create the "River" like effect we supplied our unfinished 260mm wide Oak flooring; then, using a router to carve a winding path, and stainless-steel inserts to edge the ‘river’ we applied two different coloured oils to show the different sections. We were proud to be chosen for this project and our fitter did a fantastic job in less than a week.

One Park Drive

We worked with the designers, Goddard Littlefair to create a timber floor that was a perfect match for all their colour palettes on each level and each apartment type. The beautiful images shown here were taken by Gareth Gardiner, a professional photographer.

The larger apartments have a totally different look and feel and by using a darker palette, the designers have created a very rich, luxurious look that matches all the interior fittings.

We have updated our display at The Building Centre which now features more than 140 products including herringbone and chevron parquet, bespoke parquet panels and a huge range of engineered hardwood floorboards.

You can visit anytime during opening hours as it is normally an un-manned stand. Meetings can be arranged by appointment.
