Wickes holds No 1 position as customer favourite for DIY

Wickes, the home improvement store, has been voted Britain’s favourite DIY retailer by over 6,000 shoppers in a poll by retail analyst, Verdict Research. The Consumer Satisfaction Index 2009 sees Wickes hold the top spot for a second year running, with DIY market leader, B&Q in third place.

Wickes Managing Director, Jeremy Bird comments: “The only opinion that really matters to any retailer is the opinion of its customers, so it doesn't get any better than being voted the customer's favourite. Many people assume own brand products offer low quality, but our customers are smarter than that, they know that the Wickes brand offers market leading quality at sensible prices and they seek us out over our competitors.

I'm particularly pleased because this recognises the huge commitment to customers, which is obvious in all parts of our business - the award belongs to every Wickes colleague".

For the survey, Verdict quizzed customers about where they shopped and to rate those stores in terms of product range, price, convenience, quality, service, ambience, facilities and layout. The data was collated to give retailers a score for each of these criteria, as well as an overall consumer satisfaction rating.

Verdict’s Consulting Director, Neil Saunders, explains, “Wickes came top in the DIY category for ‘’quality’. They also scored highly for ‘price’ and were top for ‘service’. All this equates to great value for consumers and that’s ultimately what they are looking for – more so now than ever.”
