Traditional Hard Landscaping Solution from Tobermore Specified at Karl Watson Site

21 Dec 2016
Case study

Karl Watson Contracting has been responsible for managing the construction of new and refurbished holiday homes across the south of England over the last few years and so the contractor was awarded the contract to look after the recent redevelopment of Hawkchurch Resort and Spa in Devon. Hard landscaping products with attractive aesthetics were required as part of the scheme, and having used Tobermore paving on a number of projects previously, Karl Watson Contracting, was happy for Tobermore products to be incorporated into the landscape design at Hawkchurch. Tobermore’s Tegula and Tegula Setts block paving was specified with Tobermore’s Kerbstone, as the aged, antique aesthetics of these products complemented the traditional style of the park beautifully.

Formerly a tenting and touring caravan site, the facility was transformed into an attractive holiday park offering luxury lodges and a spa for holiday makers in 2015. Bratherton Park Design and Northern Building Design were responsible for the design of the refurbishment works to the buildings on site and RPS Planning was appointed to look after the landscape design.

Paving products were the sought after materials for the hard landscaping element at Hawkchurch due to the aesthetics and to separate the pedestrian areas from the trafficked areas on site. Tobermore’s Tegula block paving is a hugely popular product and it proved to be the ideal solution for the landscape design at Hawkchurch Resort and Spa. Tegula is manufactured with a tumbled finish that creates vintage style and character for any application the product is incorporated on.

Tegula Setts, a variant of Tobermore’s Tegula product, was specified as a bordering product for the main Tegula areas and Tobermore’s Kerbstone was chosen as a kerbing accompaniment. Similar to Tegula and Tegula Setts, Kerbstone is manufactured with a rustic finish which worked perfectly with the traditional ambience of the holiday park. Phelan Construction Ltd was appointed as groundworker on the project and successfully delivered the external works required, including the installation of the quality products supplied by Tobermore.
