Tobermore’s Striking Sienna Meets Design Vision at Kildare Medical Centre

12 May 2017
Case study

Townlink Construction was appointed by Chill Dara Primary Care to manage the construction of a new Primary Care Centre at the appropriately named Hospital Road in Kildare town. As part of the construction process, Townlink Construction was involved with the hard landscaping on site and the contractor was delighted with the striking Sienna Duo block paving products supplied by Tobermore.

The new medical facility consists of a 36,000 sq. ft. three storey building with adjacent car parking. Keith Proctor, Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety System Manager at Townlink Construction Ltd, was largely involved in the project and explained the aims set out by Chill Dara Primary Care: The objective was to provide a modern new facility for the local community that would accommodate the Health Service Executive, a General Practitioner Practice and a Pharmacy.”

The design team at Townlink Construction looked after the building and landscape concept for the scheme. Keith explained the team’s landscape design vision: The concept for the public areas on site was to create a clean, attractive entrance way to the medical centre and functional split-level car parking.

Block paving was chosen as the most suitable hard landscaping solution due to its aesthetic appearance and performance capabilities.”

The Tobermore ROI Sales team presented the design team with a number of block paving options and the contemporary style of Sienna Duo greatly impressed them which resulted in the product being specified prior to construction commencing. Sienna Duo is manufactured with a granite aggregate surface layer that creates a modern appearance similar to natural granite. The product was selected in the sharp colours of Silver and Graphite to create a mixed colour pattern on site, complementing the dark brick and cladding on the medical building.

Keith commented on the block paving choice: “As well as the aesthetic benefits, Sienna Duo was perfect for incorporation on public areas, the price was competitive and we knew that Tobermore has a proven track record of excellent product quality and service so we trusted the manufacturer from day one.”

Construction was completed and the centre opened to the public in late 2015. Keith reflected on the end result: “The design vision was successfully achieved and there were no major issues encountered during the construction process.”

Keith continued: “All parties involved in the project were pleased with the result. It met the requirements and provided a much needed service to the local community.

“We would have no hesitation in recommending Tobermore products for future projects."
