Tobermore Go Tribal at Chessington World of Adventures £15m Refurbishment

5 Sep 2016
Case study

Tobermore’s traditional Historic Flags in the mellow, blended tones of Bracken feature on the tribal themed new landscape that has been created as part of Chessington World of Adventures most expensive construction works to date.

Merlin Entertainments Group invested almost £15 million on the new works and refurbishments across the hugely popular complex in Surrey, which was managed by Gilbert-Ash.

The exciting project at Chessington was designed by Kay Elliott Architects and has included the launch of the Azteca Hotel and Temple Restaurant and Bar, the extension of the existing Safari Hotel, and the addition of new rides in the theme park and a new water play zone within the leisure club.

The amazing complex now offers over 40 rides and attractions, a Zoo, and a SEALIFE centre with over 1000 animals in inhabitancy.

The carefully crafted landscape for the new Azteca Hotel and Temple Restaurant and Bar was designed by Nichols Brown Webber, and Tobermore’s Historic Flags proved to be the perfect solution for their design concept.

The rustic style of Historic Flags, with its riven face and fettled edges, works wonderfully with the new ancient, amazonian themed hotel and restaurant to create a truly unique landscape look. The product colour selection of Bracken was also a fantastic choice in blending with the surroundings.

Tobermore offer Historic Flags in two additional blended colours; subtle Slate and rich Harvest Gold, as well as manufacturing Historic Circle which can be used to create stylish focal areas as part of any hard landscape design.
