30 Jan 2012
Case study
Modern architecture with expressive product presentation: the new engelbert strauss workwearstoreâ in Hockenheim opened on the 19 August 2010.

The first section illustrates the direct product experience and the authentic style of the building offers the perfect combination between tradition and modern.

Engelbert strauss is a family-run business based in Biebergemünd. It’s the leading European mail-order company for work wear and protective equipment. As a manufacturer of work wear, using sawn wood was the ideal choice to mirror the Engelbert strauss brand image. This work wear look is guaranteed in the long term with Accoyaâ wood.

The view from the new workwearstoreâ is natural and the wood was only coated with a transparent coating for stain protection. The total surface area that had been covered with Accoyaâ wood amounts to 500m2. The main architect for this new store was the award winning Plajer & Franz Studio.

Engelbert strauss works with a worldwide network of manufacturers, designers and technicians to develop practice-orientated products for trade, industry and the service sector. The company has 400 employees and holds stock of around 20,000 items of workwear, protective equipment and accessories.

The innovative engelbert strauss branded workwear stands for clothing which has the power to move and inspire.

In addition the company presents itself at big exhibitions like the Ligna, in Hannover, and the ISH in Frankfurt.
