NOVA: the glazed pivot security door offering light, security, and architectural style

Glass is a remarkable material. Commonly used in architecture as part of the building envelope, it has become one of the most versatile and beneficial materials used in modern architecture.

At a time when energy efficiency is a matter of global significance, encouraging light into a space, and retaining its heat, is vital for contemporary glazing products. In direct response to modern architectural needs, the Nova door was designed with a reverence for glass – a glazed pivoting door that, by its very nature, performs multiple functions at once: blending outside to in, successfully floods an interior space with natural light, and offers an uninterrupted view of the landscape and scenery outside. Specifiable up to 6.3m high and 3.5m wide, the glazed surface creates a grand entrance solution to a variety of different spaces.

It is the functionality of the glass that enables architects and specifiers to determine if a product is a good fit for their project. Where Nova is concerned, the ability to specify the door with low U-value Thermal or Class 3 Security glass means an extraordinary entrance is always possible, whether the focus for the space is thermal retention or security. Specifically, Nova’s triple-glazed thermal glass – with thermal break frame – can provide U-values as low as 0.98w/m2k, while the Class 3 security rating means the door resists break-in attempts and provides a secure and safe threshold to the outside, offering all-important peace of mind and protection to the space’s occupants and objects.

The door’s focus of architectural glass carries through to all of its other elements: Nova’s inset vertical handle helps to maintain a flush, sleek and contemporary aesthetic. Operated via two hidden stainless steel pivot hinges, Nova has no protruding hardware, meaning the door’s large glazed surface and coloured frame becomes the focal point of the door itself, inviting users to admire the view outside with no distractions. The glass surface is not only a practical material for Nova, but produces a sleek, aesthetic charm, creating the ability for those inside a space to ‘interact’ with the outside – and be part of an ‘interactive’ building envelope.

The Nova door represents a new innovative approach to pivoting door design, focused not only on performance, but its place within the building envelope as a contemporary, secure, thermally efficient door. Visit bluebellarchitecturalproducts.co.uk for more information.
