In addition, a range of important issues were also discussed including the intelligent management of the aggregate supply system and its rising importance in the construction and upkeep of the national infrastructure network of roads, schools, hospitals.

Ben Greet, regional operations manager for concrete at Aggregate Industries, said: “We were delighted that Mr Smith was able to join us at our Eastleigh site and see first-hand how the aggregates and concrete we supply has helped to build and maintain much of region’s vital infrastructure including roads, schools and hospitals.

“Crucial to the success of these projects is investing in intelligent management systems to help us innovate in this area. As one of the topics discuss during our roundtable, Mr Smith understood the importance of having a comprehensive policy for managing the supply of aggregate locally and nationally.”

Royston Smith MP, added: “I am grateful to Aggregate Industries for inviting me to tour their Eastleigh site and its incredible facilities.
