Large Family Home, Hertfordshire

18 Oct 2012
Case study

A striking architectural design in Hertfordshire, this contemporary new build property spreads over three storeys, blending superbly with the rural environment by using natural coloured products.

This large family home features double glazed casement windows throughout providing exceptional energy efficiency. All are tastefully painted in soft shades to compliment the richness of the partial wood clad and the muted rendered exterior.

The architect specified a modern sliding door system which has been used across all three floors. These feature ‘lift and lock’ mechanics that allow the user to safely lock the door system in the closed position or locked at any open position.

A large fixed glazed gable provides masses of natural light into the comfortable sitting room. Large oak stained double doors create an impressive entrance framed by two unusual semi-circular glazed windows.

With the addition of a ground floor swimming pool featuring a semi-circular timber folding door system that opens the room to the patio and garden, this property is a truly contemporary design.
