Gatic Civil Drainage, part of Alumasc Water Management Solutions, adds to its innovative range of lightweight concrete channels with Filcoten Pave – a new discreet surface water drainage system designed to suit concrete blocks or pavers up to 80mm in depth.

The new channel drain is available through builders’ merchants and ideal for domestic new builds and other domestic applications such as drives, paving and patios. The offset draining slot of Filcoten Pave ensures a subtle threshold drainage solution, with slotted tops and access units manufactured from galvanised steel.

Filcoten Pave is suitable for Load Classes A15 and B125 when tested to EN1433 and is CE marked. Its lightweight structure makes it easy to move on site, but without comprising on quality or performance.

The Filcoten system comes in five ranges - Pro, Tec, Self, Green and now Pave - to cover all Load Class applications. It is a High Performance Concrete (HPC) product that is 70% lighter than conventional concrete and sets new standards for strength, installed performance and environmental compatibility. It achieves a high (load bearing) strength of 80-90 N/mm sq without the use of chemical stabilisers, additives or releasing agents, and flexural strength approximately double that of conventional HPC. This combination sets Filcoten apart from traditional channel drainage products.

Flexural strength is a material’s ability to resist deformation under loads. Conventional HPC products can shatter and break under sudden shock loading. Filcoten can flex and absorb such impacts. This has benefits in transit, handling and in stock, with far fewer breakages - a key consideration for merchants, developers and installers. It is also easier to handle during installation, and when installed Filcoten won’t crack or become separated from its concrete surround with temperature changes. It’s designed to endure frost/thaw cycling and will expand and contract at the same rate, resisting crack formation, water penetration and breakdown.

Filcoten’s robustness means considerably longer, trouble-free operational life and substantial cost savings over the product lifetime.
