Cembrit introduces PB Flex at the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show - Stand F125

News

Cembrit, the roofing slate and cladding specialist, will be demonstrating its new versatile building board, Cembrit PB Flex at this year’s National Homebuilding & Renovating show (26th – 29th March 2015, NEC Birmingham) on stand F125. Visitors will also have the chance to discuss their projects with the Cembrit team and receive a design of how their property could look with a slate roof.

PB Flex

Specially designed for use on curved walls, arches, vaulted ceilings and around beams and columns, Cembrit PB Flex makes it possible to render onto curved surfaces, including columns, spiral staircases and archways. Compared to standard Cembrit PB, Flex offers reduced dimensions of width and weight per panel.  All Cembrit PB boards contain polystyrene beading, which makes them remarkably lightweight in comparison with stone, block and concrete. Strengthened with nylon mesh, the boards also boast an especially reinforced, tapered edge to allow an invisible fixing within 10mm of the board’s edge. Cembrit PB Flex can be curved to 90° with a minimum radius of 150mm.

PB

Cembrit PB is a versatile base board specially designed for insulated render systems. The configuration of PB Flex maximizes stability at the butt joints and forms a tough structure to ensure a long-lasting result over the lifetime of the installation. With the application of liquid renders, self-builders can create facades combining a monolithic appearance with all the advantages of rainscreen claddings.  Cement based Cembrit PB, has low water absorbency and is dimensionally stable. It won’t expand and contract with heat and cold nor will it swell and shrink due to changes in moisture, crucial characteristics inhibiting surface cracking in the render finish.  The features which make Cembrit PB an ideal renderbacker also make it an excellent tile backer board for any internal wet area application where the finish will be ceramic tiles.

Cembrit has partnered with Wetherby in order to offer self-builders a system whereby they can achieve the desired appearance, using Cembrit PB as the substrate and Wetherby renders products as the weatherproof, decorative surface.

Design Service

To ensure self-builders have an understanding of how a slate roof would appear on their property and to find out the required quantities, Cembrit has software which can calculate this information and create an impression of how a roof will look. This provides the self-builder with useful information which allows them to obtain realistic estimates from roofing companies.  Visitors to the show are encouraged to bring sketches, drawings or the dimensions of the building footprint to stand F125, and a Cembrit representative will be able to provide them with suitable project information, thanks to this new software.

Cembrit will also be exhibiting a range of roofing and cladding products, including its fibre cement and natural slates.

Fibre Cement

Cembrit A/A+- rated fibre cement slates can contribute to achieving an environmentally outstanding building. The five variations (Jutland, Zeeland, Westerland, Moorland and Diamond) allow homeowners to achieve a natural slate appearance at a reduced cost.

Natural Slate

Natural slate remains popular as a roof covering due to its beautiful variety and use on many grand buildings in the UK’s architectural heritage. The Cembrit range includes Glendyne, Duquesa, Contessa, Alpina and Montleon.

Cladding

Manufactured from fibre cement, Cembrit’s popular ‘through coloured’ cladding board, Cembonit can be used as an architectural feature for external applications. Rainscreen cladding can create a modern looking facade, with a continental style and does not require “wet trades”.

Weatherboard

Cemwood is a wood effect cladding designed to replicate the look of traditional timber whilst retaining the aesthetic appeal of real wood. It is a long-lasting replacement to worn out timber planks or artificial looking plastic cladding.
