Back to basics with Polyflor vinyl flooring at Cheshunt School

24 Mar 2017
Case study

Hardwearing commercial vinyl flooring from Polyflor’s safety and homogeneous flooring collections was recently installed through new facilities at Cheshunt School in Hertfordshire.

Approximately 2000m² of flooring from Polyflor’s Mystique PUR, Prestige PUR and Polysafe Mosaic PUR ranges was fitted at the secondary school by flooring contractors Flortec Ltd working for regional construction company Beard.

Ideally suited to busy education environments, Mystique PUR in Titanio was used in classrooms while Prestige PUR in Grey Marl was chosen for corridors, staircases and other circulation areas. The Prestige PUR collection features 16 colours with an innovative, non-directional decorative appearance created by combining duotone base chips with two tonal highlight chips for a brighter, cleaner, fresher appearance. Available in 12 bright colours, Mystique PUR also features a stylish non-directional decoration, with a duotone chip decoration and three non-tonal highlight chips.

Polysafe Mosaic PUR safety flooring in Grey Fusion was selected for use in the school’s science classrooms and toilets areas. This high specification, decorative safety vinyl flooring combines the assurance of sustainable slip resistance with high durability for years of performance. Available in 10 colours with an impressive high density flake decoration, the range incorporates safety aggregates in the vinyl to create a safe yet attractive interior in commercial areas. This product complies with HSE and UK Slip Group Guidelines to give sustainable slip resistance, achieving 36+ on the Pendulum wet test (Slider 96/Four S rubber) with a surface roughness of 20 microns and above, as well as adhering to EN 13845 – the European standard for safety flooring.

All three products also feature Polyflor’s high quality polyurethane reinforcement (PUR). Cross-linked and UV cured for optimum strength, this reinforcement, combined with a superior closed surface finish, facilitates a low cost, lifetime polish-free maintenance regime, achieving savings of up to 48% compared with untreated vinyl flooring. All of these products also achieve the highest possible BRE Global Environmental A+ Rating (certificate No ENP472 in the Green Guide to Specification) in the major use areas such as education.  This is based on a life cycle analysis approach over a building’s life of 60 years.

Manufactured in the UK, the Prestige PUR, Mystique PUR and Polysafe Mosaic PUR ranges contain recycled material and are 100% recyclable via the Recofloor vinyl take back scheme.
