Arnold Laver Sets TV Standard
Arnold Laver’s Reading branch are providing the set materials for Channel 4’s ‘The Games’ and its forthcoming production of ‘The F-Word.’
Scenery design specialists, AAJ Sankey, who construct the sets, are sourcing their construction materials from the Reading branch of Arnold Laver because of the excellent service that they provide.
Tony Sankey, Managing Director of AAJ Sankey, said: “We have used a vast amount of material from Arnold Laver in Reading. They are superb at sourcing materials that are not usually carried in stock.”
The company has been using the Reading branch for approximately three years to provide materials ranging from tongue and groove chipboard, to bespoke products used in set construction.
“We needed quite a lot of machining work done on materials for ‘The Games’ set. Laver’s can do that before they dispatch to us, so the products are ready to go when we get them,” said Tony.
He added: “When we built the athletes village for ‘The Games,’ The skirting boards were made by bonding a specific laminate onto MDF board, which then had to be ripped down to size. The whole process was carried out by Arnold Laver.
“They have provided large quantities of boarding used to construct the set walls and they provide a next-day delivery across the country, so we only need one point of contact for all of our orders and enquiries.”
Barry Stimpson, Branch Manager of Arnold Laver in Reading, said: “We supply quite a challenging range of materials for AAJ Sankey. It is a privilege to see the final result on our TV screens, it shows how much can be achieved with Arnold Laver products.”
