Ardex investment enhances customer service.
In order to keep growing as a business, it is essential for ARDEX to invest in the continuous update of resources to provide the best possible structure to deliver gold standard customer service. To that end, ARDEX UK are delighted to announce the substantial investment that has begun to further improve the range and quality of products and services on offer.
Over the past 18 months ARDEX has seen the considerable investment of £800,000 go into a large factory extension and the creation of a new distribution centre. This creates additional space for the production of products and extra storage capacity to ensure that demand can always be met. New racking has also been installed in the factory, at a cost of £300,000, which allows for better management of product stocks. Another significant investment is that of the upgrade of Tower one and the planned development of Tower two, at a combined cost of £1.4 million. Investing in the towers has allowed for a greater range and quantity of products to be manufactured.
This year will also see the implementation of a £150,000 Warehouse Management System (WMS). WMS aims to control the movement and storage of materials within the warehouse and to process the associated transactions. By the use of a wireless network and hand held scanners all raw materials and finished goods are bar coded and scanned into marked locations, which allows accurate tracking of the status of all stock in real time. When the goods are picked for an order a handheld PC tells the dispatch operator where the goods are and he will scan them out of stock. This gives 100% picking accuracy, reliable stock information and total batch traceability.
"With our company wide investments during 2007 in the factory, together with new personnel, we aim to ensure our Gold Standard customer service not only meets, but surpasses the strict measures we set ourselves" said Paul Goldspink, Operations Director at ARDEX UK.
