Arch launches unique clear preservative treatment for timber.

From 6th June 2011 Arch Timber Protection will be offering a service treatment for its new clear preservative treated timber, Tanalised Clear, providing a more aesthetically natural option for uncoated outdoor timbers used out of ground contact.

Available from its treatment centre at Preston, Tanalised Clear pressure treated timber is protected with Tanalith M, Arch's new metal free wood preservative. The treatment provides a highly effective protection against decay and insect attack but the advanced and innovative preservative formulation also provides excellent protection against wood staining fungi, keeping the timber looking brighter and cleaner for longer allowing the natural beauty of timbers to show through. This makes Tanalised Clear treatment an ideal option for timber buildings, decking components, cladding and cedar shingle applications.

Dr. Tony Kelly, Arch Timber Protection's Sales Director said: ‘Arch has a commitment to full field testing of its products before they come to market. As well as extensive tests carried out by ourselves, we also have Tanalised Clear treated timber under-going a series of independent trials in Sweden and Germany and we are extremely pleased with the results. Tanalised Clear treated timber has proven to more than meet the preservative performance requirements for Use Class 3.2 applications – exterior timbers, above ground contact and uncoated.’

‘However, it is the aesthetic performance which is particularly pleasing. In the latest report from independent EcoBuild trials in Sweden it was stated that ‘it was remarkable to observe that all of the Tanalith M treated test rigs have retained their original appearance and had not acquired the typical greyish colour of untreated, thermally treated or CCA treated timbers, even after two years exposure’.

‘In Tanalised Clear we believe we have another unique treated timber option for our customers and for the specification market. One of our first treatments will be to protect timbers for a major project within the 2012 Olympic development and as part of our launch promotion for Tanalised Clear, Arch is offering a free one pack trial treatment of timber to all interested parties’.
