Alumasc Swisrail chosen for luxury seaview apartments
An Alumasc Façade system has added a striking finish to one of the most luxurious residential complexes in the North West of England.
Burbo Point is located on the Crosby coast overlooking miles of sandy beach, which is also home to Antony Gormley’s infamous work, “Another Place”. The building design is a contemporary take on 1930’s Art Deco and required a robust finish to withstand coastal weather conditions whilst demonstrating the versatility to cope with modern curved walls.
Quality, high specification materials were an intrinsic part of the development, from those used on the building envelope, to the fixtures and fittings used within. Architects on the project, RAL Architects of Southport, specified Alumasc’s Swisrail External Wall Insulation system with Silkolitt silicone render for the building facade, which exceeded regulatory insulation values whilst creating an eye-catching exterior, with unsurpassed weather resistance.
NHBC approved Swisrail is ideally suited to new-build applications. It incorporates a rail system that isolates the cladding from the majority of the frame, creating an additional barrier against external water ingress and allowing internal moisture control in the event of breach. Swisrail provides a seamless insulated façade that is specifically tailored to the needs of lightweight frame construction.
The development comprises 1500 square metres of Swisrail, finished using Silkolitt lightweight silicone render in white, which has outstanding water repellent qualities whilst remaining vapour permeable. It provides an attractive ‘rolled’ texture and is available in a range of decorative colours.
Main contractors at Burbo Point were Felton Construction of New Ferry on The Wirral and the system was installed by Newton and Foulger of Leeds.
