Alumasc Silicone Renders chosen for Award-Winning Restoration

A Silicone Render System from Façade Specialist Alumasc, has provided a stunning finish to the award-winning Redrow Homes development at Knightstone Island in Weston-Super-Mare.

Designed by Ferguson Mann Architects of Bristol, the scheme recently received an International Property Award in the USA, for its sensitive restoration of three Grade II listed Victorian buildings.

Knightstone Island is linked to the mainland by a causeway and its exposed location demanded a high performance envelope, able to withstand the rigours of coastal weather conditions. Developer Redrow Homes specified 3000m² of Alumasc’s Silkolitt Silicone Render which was installed by approved contractor Specialist External Render Systems Ltd of Gwent.

Alumasc’s lightweight Silicone Renders are suitable for both new-build projects and the re-modelling of existing facades, providing a consistent, colourfast appearance. These easy-to-apply decorative coatings are water repellent, highly weather resistant and are available in an extensive range of colour options in either rolled or dragged surface textures.

In addition to the creative freedom they afford, the renders bring wide-ranging benefits to specifiers, installers and building users. The systems combine the longevity and weathering features of render, with an aesthetic vibrancy that complies with modern design and performance requirements, including UV stability and protection against damaging solvents, acids and pollutants within the environment.

Alumasc’s Hydrotech Structural Waterproofing System and GX Aluminium Box Gutters were also specified at Knightstone Island. Hydrotech is a durable, self-healing monolithic membrane which is fully warranted, BBA Approved and meets European technical Approval ETA-05/0152. The GX Pressed Aluminium Gutter range forms part of Alumasc’s portfolio of well respected Rainwater Systems, manufactured from 100% recyclable aluminium to ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Standards.
