Affordable solution to domestic power cuts launched by HGI

Wirksworth, 1st March 2011:  An affordable solution to domestic power cuts is launched today at Ecobuild being held at the Excel centre, London from 1st to 3rd March 2011.  On display on the Harrington Generators stand (number N300) is a unique and intelligent LPG powered Standby Home Generator which automatically starts on detection of a utility power cut.

The HSU125 generator is ideal for homes which experience frequent power cuts, often in rural or semi-rural locations.  It is designed to operate without the need to even flick a switch.  The sole importer and distributor in the UK of this Briggs and Stratton manufactured generator is newly-appointed Harrington Generators International (HGI).

One of the advantages of the HSU125 is its intelligent management of power priorities;   before installation priorities are tailored to household requirements through the load-sensing priority system, so that precedence is given to electrical circuits which are deemed more important than others.  These might be, for example, those powering immersion heaters, electric gates or PIR lighting.  The system then intelligently manages the priorities according to load and power available.

Running from two LPG gas cylinders, the HSU125  can provide electricity for up to five days of uninterrupted power (depending on size of cylinder and load) and is designed to be completely autonomous, giving years of reliable standby power protection.  At 65 dBA in use, the generator is as quiet as an average vacuum cleaner, with durable outdoor protection for extreme weather and salt air conditions.

The home generator incorporates VanguardTM V-Twin Engines, air-cooled engines used in commercial generators to provide robust and reliable performance.  Briggs and Stratton selected HGI as sole distributor because of their success in deploying these VanguardTM engine-powered generators commercially across the UK for the last two years.

Bryan Harris, Managing Director of HGI says:  “Power to domestic homes is absolutely essential to the way we live in the 21st century; this product takes away another stress and allows a family to keep going with power functions that are important to them.  With minimum cost the system can be planned at the house design/construction stage to be discreetly sited next to the household consumer unit, acting as a unique selling point for any property, alternatively it can be fitted at a later stage of development.”
