Security expert Abloy UK has launched a new SMARTair Knob Cylinder that features a Double Reader, joining Abloy’s ever-expanding range of keyless locking solutions.
The new cylinder requires the use of an RFID card to enter and exit, and is compatible with current SMARTair reading technologies such as iCLASS, MIFARE, Skidata and DESFire.
SMARTair is an electronic handle set or escutcheon that provides complete standalone single door control operating as an electronic master key system.
Installation is easy, and can be incorporated into any new or existing SMARTair system.
As with all SMARTair cylinders, it can be retro-fit and requires little electrical experience. Additionally, it doesn't require drilling or cabling, as it is battery powered, lasting up to two years.
With SMARTair there are no extra costs, such as those that would be incurred when installing a wired online system. This is because all four components - power supply, controller, radio-frequency identification (RFID) reader, and locking unit - are combined in the handle set.
Jon Burke, Marketing Manager for Abloy UK, said: “SMARTair technology provides a simple, intelligent way to upgrade the controllability and security level of buildings and facilities, and Abloy is proud to announce the addition of the Double Reader Knob Cylinder to the range.
“The Double Reader Knob aids in creating a highly secure system to provide end users, in a variety of markets and sectors, with the ultimate way to improve door safety, security and convenience.”
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Abloy in the UK, as well as the recent launch of the Abloy Showroom at The Building Centre in London.
