Cablofil has supplied more than 45km of its steel wire tray system for both data and small power cabling containment at the £500M MediaCityUK development in Salford.
Developed by Peel Media, a division of the Peel Group, and master planned by Benoy, MediaCityUK will be the new home to five divisions of the BBC and will also provide purpose-built facilities for a further 5000 professionals from broadcasting, new media and related sectors. The scheme also includes residential accommodation, retail and leisure space and a hotel.
M&E consultant, AECOM, originally specified perforated tray for the scheme’s low voltage cables and steel wire tray
for the data cabling. However, contractor, NG Bailey, recommended that Cablofil steel wire tray
be used for all the low voltage cabling, along with the fire alarm system, security system and much of the data cabling, resulting in a change of specification
was used for the low voltage cabling and the data cabling throughout the office, studio and edit suit areas of blocks A, B and C at MediaCityUK. The steel wire tray system was installed both as risers and at high level, suspended from the ceilings and hidden in the ceiling voids.
Comments Paul Clough from NG Bailey: “The Cablofil
system is designed to ensure that the installation is as fast and simple as possible, which saves time on site for us, thereby reducing the cost of the installation. What’s more, we always have the back up of knowing that if we have a specific problem to overcome Cablofil
will provide us with a solution to meet our needs.”
