Founded in 2014 by Italian architect-designers Simona Auteri and Sofia Steffenoni, Matter of Stuff is a London-based creative studio and design brand that celebrates contemporary craftsmanship. Working across multiple disciplines, Matter of Stuff cultivates and coordinates a community of designers, manufacturers and makers that produce unique artefacts and materials.
One of their unique materials is Raw Earth, a contemporary building material that is beautiful, hypoallergenic, and versatile. Raw earth is the result of a meticulous pre-selection of clays and aggregates originating from various territories and blended together to obtain chromatic, tactile, and functional qualities that fit.
Matteo Brioni produces and supervises the application of natural surfaces for architecture: from natural clay plaster and mass-coloured earthen floors to clay paints. The production of natural surfaces is based on the selection of colouring clays, where Matteo Brioni exploits the know-how developed by his family through generations of experience in the brickyards of ancient Mantuan tradition.
