Wood Talks: Kings Place Concert Hall
Lecture venue: The Building Centre
Sir Jeremy Dixon of Dixon Jones Architects, along with acoustic engineer Rob Harris of Arup Acoustics, will present the development and design of the Gold Award winner at the 2009 Wood Awards – King’s Place Concert Hall.
An unusual development, King's Place is devoted to the public at ground level with the upper storeys providing office space to, amongst others, the Guardian and Observer. The main concert hall is independently suspended as a structure within the main structure and is almost entirely lined with European Oak veneer from a single tree – a design resulting from a dialogue with Arup Acoustics which produced the variety of surface articulations that make up the interior.
The event will be chaired by Giles Downes, former Chair of the Wood Awards judging panel.
Followed by a drinks reception.
Free to attend.
Booking is essential.
