Around 75% of existing buildings will still be in use for the next 50 years so to a large degree, the future is already built.

Yet by 2050, the Government is committed to reducing building’s emissions by 80% (when compared to 1990 levels).

Buildings account for 44% of total CO2 emissions, more than any other sector including transport, so we have to tackle the energy efficiency of current buildings.

Market-leading environmental technology manufacturer, Mitsubishi Electric is launching a major initiative to catalyse thinking.

The company aims to shine a spotlight on how we improve the efficiency of existing buildings and use advanced renewable energy systems to minimise consumption.

The launch coincides with World Green Building Week (19-23 September) which is being promoted by the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC).
