As the founder of Ian Ritchie Architects in London and co-founder of the design engineering firm Rice Francis Ritchie (RFR) with Peter Rice and Martin Francis in Paris, Ian Ritchie has been at the forefront of innovation in architecture and product design. During this time he has produced a number of internationally acclaimed buildings and innovative products and systems from glass facades to his recent shortlisted design for the RIBA Pylon Competition. He was an early promoter of sustainability, has taught and published widely and has persistently challenged the view of the conventional role of the architect. In his talk he explores the sources of inventiveness.
This is the inaugural lecture in a new series hosted by Product Innovation in Architecture (PIA) which brings together architects, product designers and manufacturers looking to share experiences in the development of new products for the built environment.
