Ken Wallis, the extraordinary engineer and previous Engineering Club speaker, died in 2013 at the age of 97. Ken is probably best remembered as the double for Sean Connery/James Bond flying Little Nellie in “You Only Live Twice”.
We will be showing extracts from “Born to Bond” a documentary of Ken’s life and career as a pilot, inventor and engineer. The video shows some wonderful archive footage of flying machines and is a fascinating personal document of the history of flight in the 20th century. We will concentrate on his work with the autogyro, a vehicle in which he broke (and still holds) the world speed record in 2002!
