This course will cover the key requirements of the visual concrete specification, the essentials of the concrete mix to ensure consistent colour, selection of form face materials, good formwork practice, site workmanship in handling and compaction of concrete. Additionally guidance on achieving a fine concrete finish with minimum blemishes and surface discoloration will be given as well as a case study.

A review of the requirements of the concrete mix, concrete workmanship, procedures on how to minimise blemishes and blow holes, formwork practice, surface treatments and the purpose of trial panels.
The difference between film faced and paper faced overlays to ply, selecting the best materials for fine finishes, number of reuses possible, natural ply panels and the handling and care of formwork.
Rigidity of assembly for minimum deflection, design for full hydrostatic pressure, grout tight joints, fixing of panel assembly, tie- bolt location, working to the architect layout drawings , wall panel systems.
The case study will highlight communicating the design specification to the contractor, selecting form face material formwork layout, shadow gaps and detailing tips, site quality control, joinery and workmanship.
