One day conference

According to new research first-time buyers require an annual income in excess of £100, 000 to buy an average-priced home in a quarter of London boroughs. Rocketing house prices, now averaging £318, 000, are creating 'nothing short of a social crisis'. An estimated 330, 000 families are registered on waiting lists for social housing in London. Waiting lists have grown by 57% in five years.

To what extent can planning, finance and design address these issues? How should we deal with the tensions created by the need to accommodate the super-rich and those that support their existence? Debate this important issue with the policy and decision makers trying to project and manage future trends.
