The Royal Birkdale golf club in Lancashire is among the best in the world, having previously hosted two Ryder Cups, the Walker and Curtis Cups, the Women’s British Open and on nine occasions the Open Championship. Voted the number one golf course in Britain, they are incredibly reputable and have a prestigious status in the golfing world.
Envirolawn were approached by Royal Birkdale to resolve the problem of having an artificial surface that blends into the real grass as well as having the same consistency underfoot as the existing tee off area. For this installation, Envirolawn worked with Playrite in the development of a truly playable driving mat, and their extensive research and hard work paid off with the creation of Nearlygrass 35 Beige.
Nearlygrass 35 Beige by Playrite is a medium pile height surface that gives the look of an immaculately cut tee, creating depth and providing a quality finish, whilst incorporating two fibre types to give a soft and natural look and feel. More than just an artificial turf, Nearlygrass 35 Beige does not compromise, allowing players to enjoy the most from their game. When usage is heavy and the weather becomes poor, most natural driving areas are destroyed with constant use, but with Nearlygrass there is no reason for a rain check.
Playrite’ attention to detail ensures that the customers’ needs are first and gives the opportunity to cater for the individual needs of those using the sports surfaces, resulting in those playing to get the most from their game or practice.
